Computer Classes - Learn highlights of using a computer and the various software programs listed below. Each class is 10 hours of instruction, broken into 2 days, with a mixture of lecture and hands-on exercises. Click on the buttons below to view flyers for more information.

Certified Typing Test-Many employers require job candidates to provide proof of typing speed and accuracy in the form of a typing certificate. The once-a-month Solano Employment Connection's five-minute typing certificate test will result with a certificate listing gross and net words per minute, plus number of errors. There is no cost associated with this certificate.

Join our Math Learning Lab in our Fairfield One-Stop to get assistance from a tutor with fractions, decimals, integers and math word problems. This will help you become skilled at passing the math portion of employment and training entry tests. Feel free to bring any of your math questions to our tutor.

8 Hour Hazwoper Refresher Course -OSHA requires the worker to take this yearly refresher course for workers on hazardous waste sites. The free course includes classroom learning, realistic hands-on activities and certifies the worker to do hazardous waste work for 12 months. Our next class will be in July 2012.
40 Hour Hazwoper -The Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) is a certificated class for anyone who is interested in employment that includes working with hazardous substances, including hazardous waste. Please be advised that you must bring to the first day of class a medical release dated within 60 days of the class, stating that you are fit to attend this class or have a DOT Physical card. The next class is scheduled for Spring of 2012.

RSO Card -Safety training is a required integral component to working at an Oil refinery facility. Occupational Safety Councils of America provide Refinery Safety Overviews (RSO) in the Fairfield SEC One-Stop. Potential refinery employees who complete an RSO course and pass the test will receive a personalized photo ID badge on the day of the training. The $40 cost of the training must be paid before the day of training. As with all of our training, you must also call to add your name to the list for the next training on February 17, 2012.
BATC Card -The Bay Area Training Corporation (BATC) is a non-profit company, which has developed and administers a safety orientation and credentialing program that has been required for jobs at the oil refineries in the Bay Area. The new RSO card is the equivalent. The cost for the BATC Card class is about $40. A course completion/certification card, valid for two years from date of issue is presented upon completion of the eight hours of training if an individual passes his/her test by a minimum of 70%.
OSHA-10 - General Industry -This class/certificate will add value to resumes for any general industry occupations. This free class is up to 10 hours of instruction, broken into 2 days, intended to provide the basics of occupational safety and health practices for identifying, reducing, eliminating and reporting hazards according to OSHA policies, procedures and standards as well as general industry safety and health principles. We will be providing this class in March 2012.

OSHA-10 - Construction - This free two-day 10-hour class covers OSHA standards in the construction field. It is intended to provide the basics of occupational safety and health practices, electrical safety, fall protection and other construction related topics. This class adds value to resumes for any jobs in a construction area. We will not be offering this class in 2012.
Forklift - The purpose of this training is to become a certified powered industrial truck (forklift truck) operator - an operator who has the knowledge and skills to operate a lift truck in a safe and professional manner. There is a cost for these classes, please read flyers for more information. The next Vallejo Spanish class in Vallejo is in January. The Fairfield/Suisun Adult School also has classes in Fairfield.
