Solano Employment Connection sponsors short training events that provide a certificate upon completion. Seating is limited.

Confined Space Training- This is a 4–hour confined space and awareness training. Participants learn to recognize confined spaces, confined space entry hazards, permit required confined spaces, OSHA regulations, field operations, and emergency procedures. Participants will receive a course handout, an electronic copy of the course manual, and a certificate of completion. The next training is to be determined.
8 Hour Hazwoper Refresher Course-OSHA requires the worker, that already has a Hazwoper certification, to take this yearly refresher course for workers on hazardous waste sites. The free course includes classroom learning, realistic hands-on activities and certifies the worker to do hazardous waste work for 12 months. We plan to offer these classes in February, June, September and December of each year.
40 Hour Hazwoper-The Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) is a certificated class for anyone who is interested in employment that includes working with hazardous substances, including hazardous waste. Please be advised that you must bring to the first day of class a medical release dated within 60 days of the class, stating that you are fit to attend this class or have a DOT Physical card or a note from your personal doctor. Each year classes are held in April and October. See flyer for exact dates.
DOT Practical - Dept. of Transportation requires this course for all workers involved in the transportation of hazardous materials. Hazardous materials training for truck drivers and workers who perform loading, unloading, shipping and receiving duties. This certificate adds value to resumes of any loading/unloading or warehouse job. The DOT Practical Ports is an equivalent training. We plan to offer these classes in March, June, September and December of 2014.
DOT Practical Ports - This course teaches port workers to identify hazardous materials, to recognize HAZMAT incidents, to protect themselves and to provide information to more highly trained responders. Upon successful completion of this course, each worker receives a "DOT HAZMAT Awareness Card." An added element of Homeland Security is included.
OSHA-10 Construction - covers OSHA standards, electrical safety, fall protection and other topics, chosen to match the training needs and job tasks of the workers attending the course. Upon successful completion of this course, each worker receives an "OSHA 10-Hour Card" that certifies that the worker has completed this course. We plan to offer this class in May of this year.
Forklift- The purpose of this training is to become an OSHA certified powered industrial truck (forklift truck) operator with the knowledge and skills to operate a lift truck in a safe and professional manner. There is a $65 cost for this class, please read flyer for more information. This class normally occurs every second Friday of the month. From 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM in Dixon and 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM in Vallejo, please see flyer for more info.
